We have had an awesome first couple of days in 3rd grade! We are starting to learn the routines in each of the classrooms and learning about our teachers and classmates. :)

Bookmobile will start coming to Brandon Elementary on Wednesday, September 9th. We have library cards for many students, however, if your child does not have a Douglas County library card at school, they may bring their own from home or sign up for one the first day of Bookmobile.

School pictures for Brandon Elementary is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd. Be on the lookout for picture forms to be coming home in the upcoming weeks.

All of these events and more will be listed on our calendar under the "Schedule" tab.

Today we had our first day with our Kindergarten Reading Buddies. Most Friday mornings, third grade will be joining Kindergarten for fun reading activities. This will not only help all classes' reading skills, but also build relationships and community with another grade level.

This upcoming Friday, October 2nd, is mid-quarter for students. This means we are halfway through the first quarter of the school year! Can you believe it?! Mr. Dahlseid and Mrs. Modahl will be sending out mid-quarter grades next week sometime, so be on the lookout for those. Our grades for third grade are weighted by the following:

Tests = 50%

Quizzes = 30%

Homework/Classwork = 15%

Practice (Morning Work) = 5%

REMEMBER - Reading minutes should be about halfway completed at this time to stay on track. Students also need to remember that they are expected to have FIVE AR TESTS completed by the end of the first quarter, so they should have a couple of those done at this point as well. For every AR test that is not done by the end of the quarter, 5% will be subtracted from their total Reading Minutes percentage.

HAPPY OCTOBER!
